Flow Switches for Pharmaceutical CIP Lines

Clean-in-place (CIP) and sterilize-in-place (SIP) applications demand sanitary construction, electropolished surfaces, and Tri-Clamp connections.

CIP & SIP Requirements

Pharmaceutical and food & beverage facilities use CIP systems to clean process piping without disassembly. These systems circulate hot caustic or acid cleaning solutions, followed by rinse water, at elevated temperatures and flow rates. SIP systems then sterilize with steam or hot water.

Flow switches in CIP/SIP service must confirm that cleaning solution is flowing at the required velocity to ensure effective cleaning — and must withstand repeated exposure to aggressive cleaning chemicals and high temperatures without contaminating the process.

PEECO Model NP-T — Sanitary Option

The PEECO sanitary flow switch (Model NP-T) is designed specifically for pharmaceutical, dairy, and food processing applications. Key features:

  • Stainless steel external bellows assembly — no internal packing or seals that can trap bacteria
  • Tri-Clamp (Tri-Clover) sanitary connection for tool-free removal and cleaning
  • Electropolish finish available for Ra ≤ 15 μin surface finish
  • 316L stainless steel wetted parts throughout
  • NEMA 4X weatherproof housing (N Series)
  • Compatible with standard CIP chemicals: NaOH, HNO₃, peracetic acid
