How High Temperature Protection Works

01

Process Heat Conducts Up the Convoluted Stainless Body

The convoluted stainless steel body extension creates a long, tortuous thermal path between the process connection and the switch housing. This geometry slows the rate at which heat travels up toward the electrical components.

02

Finned Rings Radiate Heat Away from the Housing

Integrated finned rings along the body extension dramatically increase the surface area exposed to ambient air. Heat is continuously radiated and convected away before it can reach the switch housing. The number of finned rings is precisely matched to the required maximum temperature rating.

03

Electrical Components Stay Within Their Rated Temperature Range

By the time the thermal path reaches the micro-switch and housing, the combination of convoluted geometry and finned ring dissipation has reduced the temperature to within the electrical components' rated operating range — preserving accuracy, reliability, and service life.

Temperature Configurations

— °C
Temperature
Up to 300°F
Standard Configuration
Standard PEECO flow switch configuration. No body extension required. All series available.
Temperature
Up to 400°F
High-Temp Micro-Switch Upgrade
High-temperature rated micro-switch replaces the standard switch. No body extension required at this tier — the upgraded switch handles the elevated temperature directly.
Temperature
400°F – 1,500°F
Finned-Ring Body Extension
Variable-length convoluted stainless steel body extensions with integrated finned rings. The number of rings is precisely matched to the required maximum temperature. This is the defining feature of the PEECO high temperature option.

Finned-Ring Body Extension Design

For temperatures above 400°F, PEECO flow switches are supplied with variable-length convoluted stainless steel body extensions featuring integrated finned rings. The number of finned rings is precisely matched to the required maximum temperature rating — more rings for higher temperatures.
