Air Operated
Flow Switch

Where electrical contacts are not permitted or where pneumatic operation is preferred, the PEECO Air Operated Flow Switch delivers the same proven flow sensing with a pneumatic output signal instead of an electrical one.

PEECO Air Operated Flow Switch — internal pneumatic pilot valve mechanism

E Series Required: The Air Operated option is only available on the E Series explosion proof model. It cannot be specified on N Series or H Series units.

How It Works

01

Flow Deflects Paddle

Process fluid moving through the pipe deflects the paddle, rotating the stem against the spring-loaded set point.

02

Pilot Valve Actuates

When the stem reaches the set point, it actuates the internal pneumatic pilot valve instead of an electrical snap switch.

03

Air Signal Output

Supply air is routed to the output port, producing a pneumatic signal that can actuate a valve, relay, or control system — no electrical connection needed.

Key Features

No Electrical Wiring Required

The air operated unit replaces the electrical snap-action switch with a pneumatic pilot valve. Supply air in, pneumatic signal out — no conduit, no wiring, no electrical terminations at the switch body.

Identical Flow Sensing Mechanism

The paddle, stem, and flow-sensing mechanism are unchanged from the standard PEECO unit. Set points, paddle sizing, and installation are identical — only the output signal type differs.

Two Supply Pressure Ranges

Available in a low-range (3–20 PSI) version for instrument air systems and a high-range (20–125 PSI) version for plant air or higher-pressure pneumatic control loops.

E Series Explosion Proof Housing

The air operated option is available exclusively on the E Series explosion proof model. The robust cast housing provides the structural integrity required for the pneumatic valve assembly and meets the demands of hazardous area classification.

Typical Applications

Grain elevators & agricultural storage

Paint spray booths & finishing lines

Chemical & petrochemical plants

Offshore platforms & marine environments

Underground mining operations

Grain processing & flour mills

Solvent handling & coating systems

Pneumatic control loops (no electrical infrastructure)

Specify Your Pressure Range

When ordering, specify which supply pressure range matches your pneumatic system. The low range (3–20 PSI) suits instrument air; the high range (20–125 PSI) suits plant air or higher-pressure control loops. Both use standard 1/8–27 NPT tubing connections by default.

Low Range

High Range
